National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence
We all wore odd socks on Friday to show that we promote equality and a no bullying environment at Peakhurst West Public School. No matter who you are, where you are from or what you look like, we treat each other equally and with respect at our school (even if you do wear odd socks!). Some students even promoted the day with other schools while at PSSA sport, telling the other teams about why they were wearing odd socks and how they say no to bullying and violence.

Harmony Day
All students of Peakhurst West celebrated Harmony Day on Wednesday. The day began with our special assembly and was a success with students wearing orange to show their respect for different cultures in Australia. Tomorrow we will be wearing odd socks to show that our school community says no to bullying and is in support of the National Day against Bullying and Violence. The odd socks will remind us all that it doesn't matter who you are, where you are from or what you look like, we should all be treated equally and with respect.

Events This Week
Just a reminder that we will be participating in both Harmony Day (Wednesday) and the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence (Friday) this week. Details are listed below:
We will be having the Harmony Day assembly tomorrow, Wednesday 19 March. Students are asked to wear something orange to show they are participating in this day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home – from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world.
The 2014 National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence is on Friday 21 March 2014. This annual day provides a focus for all schools to say Bullying. No Way! and to strengthen their existing everyday messages that bullying and violence at school are not okay at any time. The SRC has decided to support this day and is asking students to wear odd coloured socks to show that the students of Peakhurst West Public School are accepting of everyone.

Healthy Harold
The Healthy Harold van will be arriving tomorrow. All students have the opportunity to participate in the nationally recognised Life Education programs on offer. Please make sure that payment has been made to the office. Healthy Harold merchandise is also available so get in quick with your orders.
Swim & Survive
Just a reminder that the Year 5 and 6 Swim & Survive program begins this week. Year 6 will be swimming every Monday afternoon and Year 5 swim Tuesday afternoons. Don't forget to bring your swimming costume, towel annd goggles if you need them.
